Original post, dated March 11, 2020:

The summit organizers are taking guidance from UBC authorities, who have been monitoring the situation regarding COVID-19 closely. As of the latest update of this post, they quote the government that “the public health risk associated with the virus as ‘low for Canada’.” UBC authorities have not issued any bans and have not advised against holding public events, as of the time of this post. As such, the summit organizers intend to proceed with the summit, with the awareness that the situation might change materially. If the summit is cancelled due to COVID-19 risks, registrations will be refunded. Since one of the main goals is to provide opportunities for industry practitioner and academic researchers to network, the organizers have no intentions to use virtual/online format for the summit. It will be held in person.
