Second UBC Cybersecurity Research Summit
April 22June 5, 2020 | UBC Robson Square, Vancouver.
The summit will showcase research by UBC faculty and graduate students in Cybersecurity.
It is a full day event (very much like First Summit in 2018), with outstanding academic and industry keynotes, and presentations by UBC PhD and Masters students on the cutting edge research being conducted at UBC, and over 20 posters on recent and ongoing research at UBC.
The summit is expected to attract some 200 participants from over 50 organizations.

Academic Keynote: Joseph Bonneau Joseph is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at New York University. His research focuses on computer security, including the economics and usability of security and novel applications of cryptography. He received his PhD from the University of Cambridge and completed postdoctoral fellowships at Princeton University, Stanford University and the Electronic Frontier Foundation. He has worked in industry at Google, Yahoo, Microsoft and Cryptography Research, Inc. |

Industry Keynote: Chester Wisniewski Chester is Principal Research Scientist at global security firm Sophos. His interest in security began while learning to hack from bulletin board text files in the 1980’s and has been a lifelong pursuit. After moving to Vancouver in 2003 to work for Sophos, Chester has helped customers design enterprise-scale email defense strategies, was the primary technical lead on building Sophos’ first email security appliance, and consulted on security planning with some of the largest global brands. |
